Voor nu ben ik aan het bouwen aan een nieuwe dj-set met Traktor Scratch Pro, vandaar dat er even geen nieuwe Brainfreeze Session meer zijn. In de toekomst komt Brainfreeze dus in een nieuwe stijl!

Allen & Heath en Serato Audio Research hebben meer informatie gegeven over hun nieuwe midi-controller.
Designed primarily for use in conjunction with Serato’s new four deck version of their ITCH DJ software, the Xone:DX is a plug-and-play 20-channel USB soundcard (96kHz/24-bit) that features at its hub a four channel mixer for direct DSP mixing within the computer. Up to 168 individual MIDI control messages can be sent from the DX’s various knobs, buttons and jog wheels, which means compatibility with most leading DJ software brands. A full version of the new Serato ITCH software comes bundled with the package, allowing users to take immediate advantage of the app’s looping, time-stretching and FX capabilities. There are a few club-friendly extras included as well, in the form of a UV light sensitive legend, bi-colour LED feedback layer assignment and a separate booth output.
De Xone:DX wordt in November 2009 verwacht, geruchten gaan uit van een adviesprijs rond de €1100.

Een mixer is niet alleen zo’n ding waar je al je platen- en cd-spelers op aansluit, je hebt ook nog zo’n maalding die hapjes maakt voor baby’s en tandloze opa’s. Geïnspireerd daardoor maakte Matti Niinimäki een blender waar, als er fruit in wordt geworpen, beats worden toegevoegd. Zijn laatste toevoeging is een klopper met een scratchapparaat erin verwerkt. Hij noemt zijn creatie de Beat Blender en de Mixmaster 1200.

Wacom, bekend van de tekentablets voor grafische doeleinden, komt op de muziekbeurs in Frankfurt begin volgende maand met een draadloze en ‘touch sensitive’ mixapparaat voor de professionele dj. De Nextbeat NXT-1000 is een digitale speler, mixer met effectenunit en sampler in één. Hij ondersteunt MP3, WAV en AIFF die worden gelezen van een Compact Flash kaart.Wanneer je de Nextbeat uit zijn draagbare unit haalt, is het een soort kleine gitaar waarmee de dj rond kan lopen.
Het apparaat is in de herfst te koop, maar hoeveel het allemaal gaat kosten is onbekend.
